The youth, it is alleged, provided false documents claiming to be relatives, kith and kin of Army personnel – serving and retired – and joined the Army during a recruitment rally conducted in 2009 by the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre in Belgaum.

The fraud was discovered during an inquiry by the Army regarding the credentials of the 22 active servicemen and their certificates.
