Army chief to build house in Dharamshala

After staying at the helm of the 1.3-million strong Army for nearly two years and having fought a pitched battle with the government over his retirement age, Chief of Army Staff Gen VK Singh would spend at least a part of his retired life in the tranquil atmosphere of the hills. He will soon begin constructing his dream house in Tapovan village near here.

Gen Singh had purchased 750 square yard land in 2008 and had put up a boundary wall. The plot of land is nestled in the foothills of the Dhauladhar range, with a breathtaking view of the snowline.

Gen Singh was here on Friday to address the state-level meet of the ex-Army personnel. “There is a spiritual connect in Himachal Pradesh, so close to the hills. Apart from this, my younger daughter is married to a family in Himachal Pradesh. So, there is a relation. I have taken permission from the state government for the purchase of this land,” said Gen Singh.

HE HAD LOST THE PITCHED BATTLE BECAUSE HE ACTED UNLIKE A SOLDIER.ONLY THE SOLDIERS WIN BATTLES. THAT IS THE REASON HE IS NOW UNABLE TO SHOW HIS FACE EVEN TO HIS CLAN & HAS ALSO DESERTED HIS OWN TOWN TO TAKE SHELTER AT HIS DAUGHTER’S NEIGHBOURHOOD.. HOW THE HIMACHAL GOVT HAS GIVEN HIM PERMISSION TO PURCHASE LAND HAS TO BE INVESTIGATED. IS IT BECAUSE HE WAS ABLE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE BEING CHIEF. I DONOT KNOW WHY THE HIGH RANKED ARE GIVEN SUCH CONCESSIONS ? AS STATED HE WILL GET “”SPRIT —UAL”"” ADVANTAGE ALSO IN THE SURROUNDINGS.THE BRITISH OFFICERS ALSO HAD DEVELOPED THE PRESENT HILL STATIONS FOR THEIR LEISURE ACTIVITIES PLUS R & R ACTIVITIES. WHY SHOULD HE LAG BEHIND ? THE BRITISH WERE AGAINST INDIANS & HE IS AGAINST INDIAN GOVERNMENT.
