Armyman arrested for bike theft

An armyman was arrested this morning from Dhopatari village in Kamrup Rural district of Assam and a stolen bike seized from him.

The police said the jawan, M R Subramanian of the Misamari (Sonitpur)-based 2nd Engineering Regiment, was nabbed by locals while he was trying to flee with a bike stolen from the locality.

The jawan, who was in plain clothes, was beaten up by people before being handed over to police.

The Pulsar bike, belonging to a local resident of Dhopatari, Abdul Merus, was recovered from him.

An FIR has been lodged against him at Kamalpur police station. Police are continuing Subramanian’s interrogation.
