Colonel (retd) presented in court for killing 13 yr old

26 08 2011

The principal sessions court on Thursday transferred the Dilson murder case to a city fast-track court where the trial will begin on August 30.

Thirteen-yearold K Dilson was shot at the Fort Glacis Army Officers’ Enclave on Flagstaff Road on July 3 when he went to gather almonds along with some friends.

Around 1pm on Thursday, lieutenant colonel (retired) K Ramaraj , accused of shooting down Dilson, was presented in court. He was accompanied by his lawyer R Gopinath. None of Ramaraj’s family members were present.

Gopinath has filed two petitions with a magistrate court, one requesting the police to return the seized properties of his client and a first class accommodation for Ramaraj in the Puzhal jail where he is a remand prisoner. On
Friday, the Madras high court will hear a fresh bail application filed by Ramaraj .

It may be recalled that a day after the shooting incident shook the city on July 3, the CB-CID took over the case and began investigations . It soon zeroed in on Ramaraj, who was arrested on July 10 and charged with murder, illegal use of fire arms and destruction of evidence .
