An Indian Army officer facing a probe for alleged sexual misconduct in Congo has attempted suicide.
Sources said that Major R.S. Ghumman, who is part of the UN peacekeeping force in Congo, slashed his wrists in an attempt to kill himself. He is under treatment in hospital.
Major R.S. Ghumman attempted suicide after the probe against him was ordered. He has been accused of hiring sex workers in Congo and violating curfew rules.
Major R.S. Ghumman is part of the 4,300-strong Indian contingent in Congo. The probe against the officer will continue after he recovers.
